The Vets and Vet Techs are always friendly, thorough, and timely. I’ve had two different dogs come here over the past 4 years and I’ve never had a bad experience. They always have explained the different treatment plans available when my dogs have been sick and been very understanding. Couldn’t ask for better.
Love the Dr.s, staff and care my dog gets. My reason for not giving a 5 ⭐️ is that the remodeling has gone too long and it makes visits inconvenient and impersonal. Owners/partners, please pay attention to your remodel and how the affect feels to clients.
Nice people work here but the prices are absolutely crazy high. Ended up going to a different vet and spent 1/3 of the price I spent here. The vet is nice but I’m starting to lose trust in this office. They told me one of my cats had gum inflammation and then the other vet I took him to said he had perfect teeth and gums. So unless his gums magically healed in under a week, something is fishy. They also diagnosed my other cat with FELV and they barely offered me any support. They told me that many of the cats don’t make it but sometimes they do. I feel like they made this seem like a death sentence for my cat. FELV weakens the immune system of cats and they never made me aware of any supplements I could give her or anything! Just told me I had to separate her from my other cats for 1 year and continue to test everybody. After that visit, they called me about 2 times a day for a week trying to schedule my cats for another visit. They even called my roommate to tell her to tell me to schedule !! Another one of my cats has soft stool. We let the vet office know and they basically just said “hope it gets better”. They didn’t offer us any solutions such as : don’t switch up his food . They had us deworm him but that did absolutely nothing. Definitely switching vets and getting second opinion on all of my pets.
I was going to be over charged for a cone ($32) that didn't fit my dog well. In comparison, the same type of cone would have costed me $7 @ PetSmart, and as pet owners we all know PetSmart highly inflates their price. On top of this, when the nurse walked my dog outside to me allowed the cone to catch on the gravel and hit objects as he was being walked to me (think when you're wearing pants with bet loops and they get snagged on a door handle, except this was happening to my dog's face, who was visiting them because he had an abscess on his cheek/face that ruptured, was bleeding, and was most certainly in pain because of this. Though only very mildly, the nurse tried to make light of the situation and have a sense a humor about. Not the time for that!---and if they saw this is an issue then they have replaced the cone they placed on him (made to accommodate a 50 pound or greater dog's neck) with a more form fitting cone in respect to my dog's size (26 pounds). I did end up buying my dog an inflatable cone alternative, which feels soft and premium, that wouldn't impede his eating, sleeping, his walking around, etc. for the same price at PetSmart and for the price they would have charged me for a poor fitting, recycled PVC plastic bottle cone body structure. And to top it off, the cone had a Velcro tape strap locking mechanism which had its attaching adhesive starting to peel off the cheap plastic structure.
I do greatly appreciate that they were able to attend to my dog and under such short notice, that they were at least able have an idea of what was going on (though didn't sufficiently narrow down what caused the abscess from obvious & general deduction (something a 5 minute google search would provide (which is a little disappointing considering I was referring to trained and experienced professionals)), that they were able to treat him, and that they were able to release him the same day. However, I will not be returning to do business with them and will exhaust looking for alternative options before even considering having my pet be "cared" for and treated at La Jolla Veterinary Hospital. I will not ask for or accept a refund for goods or services rendered and consider my overpriced bill to be the fee for the information and the insight to avoid this vet hospital unless conditionally necessary.
This was our first visit w our new pup. We all felt very welcome and extremely well cared for. Little Loki had a great first experience w the excellent Dr and team. Very professional and generous with information on how to care for our new fur baby.
Even though my pets and I don’t like having to go to vet, I always feel like we are taken care of here. I’ve been going here since 2019 and don’t plan on going anywhere else!
I am so thankful to the staff here and how well they treat our little Emee and me (and our previous 3 who are now in Heaven).
I was so appreciative that they saw Emee for her exam outside yesterday before going in for the blood draw and vaccine, so I could be 6 feet away since she's a very nervous dog with a bad heart.
Emee was very comfortable with going inside without me since she was able to "warm-up" with her outdoor exam.
I feel like they are family and would definitely encourage anyone seeking a new vet to make the move to La Jolla Veterinary Hospital.
Love,
Traci, Emee, & Scott
I cannot thank the staff at LA Jolla Vet enough. They took care of my 14 y.o. lab and were as attached to him as we were. I had to put him down last week but during this hard time, I still am thankful for the folks at La Jolla Vet for making it as smooth as possible. They were very professional in letting me know that we had reached the end (something no pet parent wants to hear) and discussed the next steps very professionally.
They are also great vets. My 2 dogs have been their patients for 4 years and they are great at diagnosing and relieving any issues
